One killed in armored truck crash in Whitley County

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A crash involving an armored truck in Whitley County has left one person dead and another injured.

Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement says a Garda armored truck left Kentucky 92, went over an embankment then hit a tree around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

State Police say the two were not wearing seat belts.

Police also say it was a challenge for first responders to remove the two people from the truck because it’s made of steel and not meant to be broken into.

The name of the driver has not been released.
