One in custody after overnight vehicle break-ins, pursuit in Winchester

WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Police in Winchester say one suspect is in custody after a series of overnight thefts from vehicles in a local neighborhood.

According to a post from the Winchester Police Department, officers responded to multiple reports of car break-ins around Boone Avenue and nearby side streets.

Chief Travis Thompson says a police pursuit led to the arrest of one suspect, and officers recovered several items believed to be stolen — including firearms.

Investigators say a second suspect has been identified and officers are actively working to locate that person.

Police are asking anyone who believes their vehicle was broken into to report it by calling (859) 745-7400. Officers are also asking residents to check for missing property, review home surveillance footage, and share any information that could help the investigation.

The investigation remains ongoing.
