One dog found dead, 2 others malnourished at Garrard County home

GARRARD COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police in Garrard County have taken two people into custody after finding one dog dead and two others severely malnourished.

Last month a Garrard County Animal Control officer was called to a home on Dora Drive, where she found a dead dog tied to a tree.

She also found a pit bull mix so severely emaciated its ribs were showing and an Australian Shephard/Great Pyrenees mix that was still chained to the front porch, according to police.

The Garrard County Police Department determined the dogs were owned by Johnny Denny and Maria Denny.

Both were arrested this month and charged with animal cruelty and torture.

Police say the dogs were brought to the Garrard County Animal Shelter where they are recovering.

The dogs will be available for adoption, according to police.

The shelter says you can help by donating cleaning supplies, food, or donating money by check or through PayPal.
