One dead, one injured in Rockcastle County house fire

ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, KY — (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – One person is dead and another was injured following a house fire early Saturday morning in Rockcastle County.

Officials responded to a working structure fire off John Road near Highway 70 around 6:45 a.m. Fire crews say the home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on scene.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. A second individual suffered severe burns and was transported to a hospital for medical treatment. That person’s condition has not been released.

The identity of the victim who died has not yet been made public, pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities say the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
