UPDATE: Juvenile charged with murder, arson in death of elderly Rowan man

81-year old Lloyd Riddle was found dead following a house fire on Tuesday

MOREHEAD, Ky. (WTVQ) – A juvenile was charged Wednesday with murder and first-degree arson in connection to the death of an elderly Rowan County man, according to Kentucky State Police.

Because of the age, no name was released.  The juvenile was taken to a juvenile detention center.

KSP says the body of 81-year-old Lloyd Riddle, of Morehead, was found in a home that had caught fire after the flames were extinguished on Tuesday on Jackson Cemetery Road.

Investigators didn’t release any other information in the case, which remains under investigation.

MOREHEAD, Ky. (WTVQ) – An 81-year-old man has been identified as the victim of a fatal house fire Tuesday in Morehead.

According to Kentucky State Police, Lloyd J. Riddle was found inside the home once the fire on Jackson Cemetery Road was extinguished. The cause of the fire still is being investigated.

Troopers said they received the call from from Morehead Dispatch at about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday. Kentucky State Police was assisted by Morehead Fire Department, Hillsboro Fire Department, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Rowan County Coroner’s Office, State Fire Marshall’s Office, and Kentucky State Police Arson Investigator.

This case remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police, Morehead and Kentucky State Police Arson Investigators.

MOREHEAD, Ky. (WTVQ) – One person died in a house fire in Rowan County on Tuesday, according to Kentucky State Police.

It happened on Jackson Cemetery Road, north of Morehead, according to KSP.
