LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Fayette County Coroner’s Office says one person is dead following a fire at a home in Lexington Wednesday afternoon.
The fire broke out around 2:00 p.m. in the 200-block of Radcliffe Road.
The Lexington Fire Department says there was a fire in the home and also in a detached garage.
“Devastating. Very, very devastating,” said Nekiter Chenault, who lived down the street for almost 40 years.
Firefighters say when they put out the fire in the garage, they discovered a body inside.
The coroner says he isn’t sure if the victim died in the fire.
Arson investigators, along with investigators from the Lexington Police Department’s Robbery/Homicide unit, were on the scene.
“We haven’t had nothing like this on this street. Nothing. No. Man, that’s shocking,” said Chenault.
