One dead after train hits truck in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Scott Co. coroner is on the scene of an accident in Georgetown that left one person dead.

According to the Scott County Sheriff, a call came in at 2:40 p.m. about a train hitting a dump truck at a private crossing on a farm along Rogers Gap Road.  The truck was in the middle of the tracks when it was hit.  The Sheriff says the truck was split into three pieces, and the driver was ejected and killed.

The victim has been identified as 80-year-old Stanley Hammonds.
