UPDATE: EKU football player victim in fatal car crash
RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police have identified the victim in a fatal crash on Tates Creek Road, just west of Richmond Sunday morning as EKU football player Joseph Kraemer.
Kraemer, 19, was a sophomore at Eastern Kentucky University, working towards a degree in sports management, and a defensive lineman on the football team. He was born in Independence, Ky.
Eastern Kentucky University has released a statement on the death, saying, “The EKU community is saddened by the news of the passing of Joey Kraemer. We offer our deepest sympathy to his family, friends and teammates. Counseling services are available for any students, faculty or staff during this difficult time. The Colonel family mourns the loss of a promising student athlete, taken from us far too soon.”
EKU Head Football Coach Dean Hood also gave a statement, saying “The news that we lost one of our own is devastating to me, our team and our coaches. We pray that God will give strength to Joey’s family
during their time of mourning. Joey will truly be missed by all of us he touched, not only because of what he accomplished on the football field, but because of who he was as a person and the impact he
made on our lives.”

RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) – One person is dead after the car they were driving careened off a Madison County road sometime overnight, state police say.
According to Trooper Robert Purdy, state police received a 911 call, around 8 a.m. Sunday, from a person that found a car off Tates Creek Road, just west of Richmond.
When police arrived, they found a person dead inside the car and the Madison County Coroner was called to the scene.
Police say the crash happened sometime overnight and the car wasn’t found until after the sun came up.
The driver was the only person in the car, state police say. The victim’s name has not yet been released.
