Driver arrested after crashing into utility pole and fleeing scene

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — One person was arrested Thursday morning after police say a driver crashed into a utility pole and ran from the scene in Lexington.

According to police, officers were called around 4:30 a.m. to Alexandria Drive at Garden Springs after a vehicle overturned and hit a utility pole.

Police say the crash knocked down wires and caused a power outage in the area.

Officers say the driver left the scene on foot but was later found nearby and taken into custody. Police say the driver suffered minor injuries.

Part of Alexandria Drive was closed Thursday morning while crews from Kentucky Utilities worked to repair the damaged utility pole and restore service.
