OKC officials OK mental health hospital plans

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma City Council has approved a company’s plans to build an adult mental health and substance abuse treatment hospital.

The council voted Monday to approve a proposal by Kentucky-based Springstone LLC to build a development called Oakwood Springs.

The 72-bed facility will provide inpatient and outpatient care. The Oklahoman (http://bit.ly/1sDVP93 ) reports construction will start once the state’s health department approves its certificate of need. It’s a process that allows Oklahoma officials to decide whether a hospital providing a specific health care service is needed.

Springstone plans to hire about 150 workers with a payroll of about $9 million.
