Ohio River to return to lower levels after weekend flooding

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Ohio River is expected to return to lower levels after rain and melting snow caused flood conditions over the weekend.

The river rose to 53 feet Sunday, a foot higher than the official flood stage level. Several establishments along the river reported flooding and water damage.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports (http://cin.ci/1Gxa626 ) authorities closed several roadways over the weekend in downtown Cincinnati and in Campbell County, Kentucky due to the flooding.

Greater Cincinnati has received nearly 5 inches of snow this month. Typically the area gets less than 1 inch by this time in March.

A flood warning issued by the National Weather Service was set to expire Monday night.
