Ohio man pleads guilty to armed robberies in 4 states
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A central Ohio man has pleaded guilty to armed bank robberies in four states.
Court documents allege 49-year-old William McBride Jr. of Columbus robbed six different banks at gunpoint between June and August in Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky and Indiana. Prosecutors say McBride demanded and received more than $21,000 in total from the banks.
Officials say they arrested McBride in a Columbus hotel in August after a witness reported his license plate number as he fled from an eastern Ohio bank.
McBride pleaded guilty Monday before a magistrate judge to six counts of felony armed robbery.
A message was left for McBride’s attorney.
