Ohio inmate linked to Lexington trailer theft
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) -Lexington Police say an inmate in Wilmington, Ohio now has a warrant on file for theft in excess of $10,000 dollars.
Officers say representatives of R & L Carriers Inc. told them that between December 5th and December 7th, someone stole one of their trailers loaded with cigarettes, cigars, and janitorial supplies. Detectives investigating the case later discovered that an R & L Carriers facility in Wilmington, Ohio reported that a trailer had been stolen from them, as well, and that a suspect, William J. Carter, had been developed in the case.
Officers say they went to Wilmington on December 23 to further investigate the theft. Authorities in Ohio had secured a search warrant for Carter’s home, where they found stolen items from the Lexington R & L Carriers. A search of Carter’s business in Hamilton, Ohio revealed additional items taken from the Lexington R & L Carriers.
Officers say based on the evidence, a felony warrant for theft by unlawful taking is now on file for Carter in Fayette Co. Carter is currently incarcerated in Clinton Co., Ohio.
