Officials investigate motel fire

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Crews with the Lexington Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire early Wednesday morning in Lexington.

According to the department’s public information officer, crews were dispatched to the 5500 block of Athens-Boonesboro Road around 2:31 a.m. for a report of smoke inside a structure. The call was upgraded to a structure fire after the reporting party located smoke inside a motel.

Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire found in an appliance closet.

Officials say there were no injuries and no displacement as a result of the fire. A fire investigator was on scene to determine the origin and cause.
