Officer In The Right Place At The Right Time
An officer doing a routine check-in with a Lexington business ended up being at the right place at the right time on Thursday.
Lieutenant Chris Young with the Lexington Police Department was at Thorntons at 2300 Woodhill Drive at 12:15 a.m. when a woman ran into the parking lot screaming for help.
Two men were seen fighting in the parking lot.
Police said one of the men was the husband of the woman who was fighting with the other man because he just robbed her.
Young started after the suspect when two employees from Austin City Saloon came across the street to the parking lot and told him the suspect had a gun.
Other officers were called to the scene and they tracked the man to Butternut Hill Court and arrested him.
Jacques Washington, 20, was charged with robbery, fleeing and evading and tampering with physical evidence.
Young said police did locate a loaded magazine clip from the gun behind the Thorntons but did not find the gun.
They plan to view surveillance video from Thorntons to see where the suspect might have dropped it.
