Off-duty detective led on short pursuit by Russell Co. man
RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- State Police say an off-duty detective was almost ran over just before a short pursuit in Jamestown around 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
KSP says an off-duty detective with Kentucky State Police saw a car come to an abrupt stop, almost causing a crash.
Detective Nick Davis says he could hear a man screaming and a child crying in the car. Davis says the driver smelled of alcohol.
Detective Davis identified the driver as 30-year-old Justin Belt. Davis says that once he identified himself and asked Belt to step out of the car, Belt tried to run over Davis and drove off.
State troopers say they found the car Belt was driving at a home on Mann Road. They say Belt was sitting outside when troopers arrested him.
Belt was lodged at the Russell County Detention Center.
