Obama to speak on economy in Louisville

NOTE: President Obama’s arrival in Louisville has been delayed.  The president is now not expected to arrive until approximately 4:00 p.m.

LOUISVLLE, KY. (WTVQ) – President Obama will be will be landing at Louisville Air National Guard Base Thursday, before heading downtown to talk about the nation’s economy, and specifically the tech sector.

About a month ago, the president announced his TechHire initiative, which provides a way to get people into into the nearly half-a-million open tech jobs across the country.  The City of Louisville alone estimates that there is about 1,700 open jobs in the city, all with salaries that pay between 45 and 60-thousand dollars a year.

Louisville is one of the 20 cities participating in the initiative, and today the president will head to Local tech company Indatus to talk more about his plan to get people working

This is the president’s second trip to Kentucky since taking office six years ago.
