NWS Louisville issues shelter in place warning for downtown
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – The National Weather Service has issued a shelter in place warning for people in portions of downtown Louisville.
The warning is due to potentially hazardous material on East Main Street.
The Kentucky Emergency Management Agency in Louisville says the affected area is bounded by Market Street on the north, Interstate 65 on the east, Witherspoon on the south, and Clay on the west. They are advising residents to go inside immediately, close all windows and doors, turn off air conditioners and furnaces, bring in pets, and block all outside air.
Furthermore, residents are directed not to dial 911 unless an imminent emergency arises. Residents are asked instead to turn on the television and radio and await additional information.
