Nurse at correction center charged with promoting contraband

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A nurse at the Laurel Co. Correctional Center has been arrested after an investigation revealed he was supplying a female inmate with tobacco products.

Officials at the correctional center arrested 49-year-old Larry Ridnour on Thursday, after procuring an arrest warrant.

Arresting officers say they found prescription medication on Ridnour, which could result in further charges.

“Our officers have worked too hard to create a contraband free environment for our inmates to allow an individual to compromise our efforts, especially when that person is one who has been placed in a position of trust within this facility, said Jailer Jamie Mosley.  “Many times these situations begin with tobacco products then progress to drugs or potentially weapons.”

“I don’t care if you are a contractor, or a jail employee, if you bring something in this jail that we do not allow, we will prosecute you to the fullest extent.”
