Northbound I-75 shutdown in Scott County
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Northbound Interstate 75 was closed Wednesday night when an 18-wheeler overturned, blocking all lanes, according to Lexington Police. The accident led to a huge traffic backup. Investigators say a UPS driver told them something on the road distracted him, he hit the guard-rail, over-corrected and his tractor-trailer flipped on its side, dumping medical supplies and liquor all over the road.
Lexington Police say that stretch of I-75 was expected to be closed 4-to-5 hours while the mess was cleaned-up. Investigators say the semi driver wasn’t hurt. State Police say a detour is in place for motorists. Traffic is being re-routed at Exit 120 onto Iron Works Pike to US 25 North, then back onto I-75 North at mile marker 126 in Scott County.
