North Laurel Middle School teacher arrested at school on drug, assault charges

LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) — A North Laurel Middle School teacher was arrested Wednesday afternoon at the school on multiple charges, including drug paraphernalia and assault on an officer.

Police were called about Melissa Neeley for “disorderly conduct” on school grounds around 2:30 p.m.

When police attempted to arrest Neeley, she allegedly pushed the officer in an attempt to evade him, according to an arrest citation.

Due to the complaint on school grounds and “possible drug use,” officers obtained a search warrant on Neeley’s purse and vehicle.

Inside her purse, several pill bottles were found, one of which contained the improper medication prescription for hydrocodone, according to the citation. Inside the vehicle, officers say they found a plastic pill crusher, a plastic straw, white residue and more prescription medication bottles.

She’s listed as a reading teacher on the school’s staff directory.

Neeley is charged with disorderly conduct, drug paraphernalia, prescription not properly contained and assault on a police/probation officer.

ABC 36 has reached out to the school system for comment.
