Nonprofit to donate over 2,300 new coats to children in need
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Devine Carama and his A Coat to Keep the Cold Away campaign have officially bagged up over 2,300 brand new coats, set to be delivered Thursday and Friday to children in Central and Eastern Kentucky.
Our photojournalist was at Consolidated Baptist Church in Lexington where coats were given out.
Carama expressed his gratitude.
“Over 2,300 coats is how much we collected. Our goal was 2,100. It seems like we reach our goal every year, it just looks a little bit different. This year, it seemed like more people from the community were giving a little bit at a time and everybody’s little bit made a lot,” he said.
On Saturday, Carama says leftover coats will be given out from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church located at 1625 Russell Cave Road.
