Non-injury accident scene ends with DUI, drug trafficking charges
LONDON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police say a woman who hit a fence with her car was under the influence, with a gun, cash, and drugs in the vehicle.
Officers say they went to the accident on July 12th at the Laurel Cookie Factory. Police say when they got to the car the driver, 50-year-old Mildred A. Collett, told them she was on several medications including Neurontin and Klonopin. Investigators say Collett was “manifestly” under the influence, and failed a field sobriety test.
After receiving consent to search her car, officers say they found a pistol, money, nearly 12 grams of methamphetamine, Suboxone, Klanopin, Xanax, along with several plastic bags and a digital scale. A passenger in the car, 28-year-old Toni Day also had a bench warrant for her arrest. Police say while arresting Day, she told them she had several syringes in her bra.
Collette was arrested and charged with DUI, along with multiple trafficking and possession charges. Beyond her bench warrant, Day was also charged with possessing drug paraphernalia.
Both were taken to the Laurel County Detention Center.
