No QB battle this year

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – We’ve known now for a while Drew Barker will be the starting quarterback when UK kicks off the season against Southern Miss Saturday at 7:30 on ESPNU.

It’s the first time in a long time there hasn’t been a legitimate quarterback battle in Lexington.

Think back to the Mike Hartline, Morgan Newton, Randall Cobb days.

Patrick Towles of course battled Barker the past few season.

Even Matt Roark played QB in the win over Tennessee a few years back because there wasn’t a good option behind center.
