No. 9 Kentucky men’s basketball opens up regular season with a 77-51 win over Nicholls
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The Kentucky wildcats are officially 1-0 after a dominant 77-51 win in their season opener against Nicholls on Tuesday evening.
It was a rocky start, though. The cats were 10-31 (32%) and 2-16 (13%) from behind the arc in the first half.
The second half looked like the team everyone expected to see. In the second, the wildcats shot 61% from the field and 46% from the three.
Four wildcats finished in double figures. Collin Chandler led the cats with 15 points, going 5-8 from the field and 4-7 from the three. His points included a thrilling, picture-perfect slam dunk in the second half.
Kentucky also dominated the boards 51-30, as well as points in the paint 42-20.
Kentucky is back at Rupp Arena on Friday when they host Valparaiso at 7 p.m.
