No. 7 Kentucky falls at Mississippi State for second conference loss

STARKVILLE, Miss. (ABC 36 News Now) – The Kentucky Wildcats dropped their second SEC game of the season, falling 71–59 to Mississippi State on Sunday afternoon.

Kentucky used a strong second quarter to take the lead into halftime, but a poor second half proved costly. The Wildcats were outscored 41–26 after the break, leading to the loss against the Bulldogs.

The absence of Teonni Key was evident. Kentucky was outrebounded 52–35 in the game, including allowing 11 offensive rebounds.

Tonie Morgan once again led the Wildcats, scoring 15 points and dishing out seven assists in the loss. Clara Strack added 10 points and 15 rebounds for Kentucky.

The Wildcats’ bench was held scoreless.

Kentucky returns to action Thursday in Knoxville, where it will face the 20th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
