No. 6 Kentucky women’s basketball suffers first conference loss to Alabama
TUSCALOOSA, Al. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky’s eight-game winning streak came to an end Thursday night as the No. 6 Wildcats fell 64-51 to Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
The Wildcats were without Teonni Key, who missed the game after suffering an elbow injury against Missouri.
Kentucky totaled just 10 assists, well below its season average of more than 19 per game.
Alabama controlled the paint, outscoring Kentucky 26-12.
Tonnie Morgan led the Wildcats with 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Asia Boone was the only other Kentucky player in double figures, scoring 12 points before fouling out. Clara Strack pulled down 13 rebounds but scored just four points, shooting 1-of-13 from the field.
Kentucky dropped to 15-2 overall and 2-1 in SEC play.
The Wildcats return home Sunday to host Oklahoma at 4 p.m.
