No. 18 Kentucky rolls past Arkansas in Teonni Key’s return
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The Kentucky women’s basketball team got back in the win column with a 93-73 victory over Arkansas in Fayetteville. The win completed a Wildcats sweep of the Razorbacks in basketball this weekend.
The main storyline for Kentucky was the return of senior forward Teonni Key from an elbow injury. In her return, Key recorded 15 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists.
The game was tight at halftime, with Kentucky holding a six-point lead. Arkansas briefly took a 46-45 lead early in the second half, but from that point on it was all Kentucky, as the Wildcats closed the game on a dominant 48-27 run.
Clara Strack delivered a dominant performance for Kentucky, pouring in 33 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Amelia Hassett (16 points), Tonie Morgan (14), and Asia Boone (11) joined Key and Strack in double figures.
Kentucky also dominated Arkansas on the glass, outrebounding the Razorbacks 51-24.
With the win, Kentucky improves to 18-5 overall (5-4 SEC), while Arkansas falls to 11-12 (0-8 SEC).
The Wildcats return to action Thursday when they host the Vanderbilt Commodores (20-2, 6-2 SEC) at Historic Memorial Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., with coverage on SEC Network+.
