No. 16 Kentucky takes down Auburn on the Plains

AUBURN, Ala. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The 16th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats defeated the Auburn Tigers 63-56 to close out their regular-season road slate.

The Wildcats took the lead within the first minute of the game and never gave it back.

Kentucky was led in scoring by Amelia Hassett, who finished with 15 points and went 5-for-8 from 3-point range. Clara Strack added 12 points, while Tonie Morgan and Teonni Key chipped in 11 points each.

The Wildcats dominated the glass throughout the night, holding a +11 rebounding advantage over the Tigers. Key led Kentucky with nine rebounds.

With the victory, Kentucky clinches at least a .500 record in SEC play, improving to 21-8 overall and 8-7 in conference play. Auburn falls to 14-15 overall and 3-12 in the SEC with the loss.

Kentucky will return home to wrap up the regular season Sunday against the South Carolina Gamecocks (27-2, 13-1 SEC). Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. on SEC Network+.
