NKU Fires Dance Coach Over Theft Allegations
Northern Kentucky University has fired its dance team coach amid allegations she misused a school procurement card and bought $6,800 in airline tickets for personal use.
The Kentucky Enquirer reported (http://cin.ci/1DCNNlT ) the school dismissed Jennifer Hilvert over the summer, citing a "willful violation of policy and dishonesty." The paper cited an open records request in its report.
Hilvert was also the assistant director of NKU’s recreation department.
The firing came about a year after former athletic director Scott Eaton pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $311,000 from the school using such a procurement card. Eaton is serving a 10-year sentence.
Hilvert did not return several messages seeking comment.
University spokeswoman Kelly Martin says Hilvert has repaid most of the debt and indicated the rest will be repaid.
