Nicholasville Police warns rental property phone scam
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – According to Nicholasville Police there is a possible phone scam regarding rental properties calling several people over the past several days.
The person looking to rent the property is contacting a number that is from what Nicholasville Police have gather is a scam.
According to police, they have taken a legitimate rental property off of a site such a Zillow and then place it on another rental site and change the contact information.
Nicholasville Police remind people that if you contact someone and they refuse or cannot meet you but want you to send them money via Western Union or go and purchase some type of gift card this likely a scam. Rental brokers are always eager to meet and show the property that you are interested in but in these cases the person on the other line cannot meet with you but will promise you the property if you send them the deposit.
Nicholasville Police have received calls for several days pertaining to this type of scam. There are several properties and several contact numbers the scammers are using.
