Nicholasville police say reported abduction was a scam

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Police in Nicholasville say an abduction scare in the downtown area turned out to be a scam.

According to the Nicholasville Police Department, officers responded to a report of a possible abduction on Tuesday after a woman received a disturbing call. The caller claimed her adult daughter was in danger and demanded money for her safety.

Officers immediately began investigating and determined that the call was fraudulent. They confirmed the daughter was safe and had not been harmed.

Police are reminding the public to be cautious of similar scams and to report any suspicious calls or messages.
