Nicholasville and Georgetown police joint operation leads to drug bust

Investigators say 234 grams of meth was seized during a traffic stop on I-75 in Scott County

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Nicholasville Police Department’s Drug Enforcement Unit in conjunction with the Georgetown Police Department, utilizing Kentucky’s BACKUPPS program, made a drug bust on I-75 on Tuesday.

BACKUPPS stands for Bluegrass and Central Kentucky Unified Police Protection System.  The program was created by 26 Central Kentucky chiefs and sheriffs.  BACKUPPS allows officers from participating agencies to work across jurisdictional boundaries.

Nicholasville Police say a person was arrested during a traffic stop on I-75 in Scott County.

Investigators say they seized 234 grams of methamphetamine during the traffic stop.

The name of the person who was arrested was not released.  Police say the individual was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance first-degree (methamphetamine).
