New Year’s Morning Blaze Rips Through Home

Firefighters battled an early morning New Year’s Day fire on Conley Street in Lexington’s East End neighborhood.

Fire officials say they received a 911 call around 2:50 a.m. from someone driving their car on a nearby street. The caller reported heavy flames and smoke to dispatchers, prompting a full structure fire response.

First responding fire crews arrived on the scene just minutes later to find the home fully engulfed. They said flames could be seen shooting into the air from about four blocks away.

Fire officials say no one was home when the fire broke out and there were no reported injuries from firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
