New water rates in effect in Middlesboro, Clinton
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) – New water rates have taken effect for about 7,200 customers of Water Service Corp. of Kentucky.
The Kentucky Public Service Commission on Tuesday approved a settlement granting the utility an annual revenue increase of about $361,000, about a third less than it had requested.
The PSC says the utility negotiated the settlement with the Kentucky attorney general’s office and the city of Clinton in southwestern Kentucky.
About 900 of the affected customers live in Clinton, and about 6,300 live in Middlesboro in southeastern Kentucky.
Middlesboro residential customers using 5,000 gallons will see an increase of $5.43 to $30.29. In Clinton, residential customers will pay $8.90 less, or $31.81, for the same amount.
The new rates took effect Tuesday.
