New Trooper Island commander named
FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky State Police’s Trooper Island Camp has a new commander starting later this month.
The agency says Trooper First Class Jonathan Biven has been chosen to lead the camp, effective Dec. 16.
Trooper Island Camp is located in a corner of Dale Hollow Lake near the Cumberland and Clinton county line.
State police developed the camp as part of a long-range program of public service to Kentucky youth. It was established in 1965 for kids who couldn’t afford summer camp.
Biven is an 11-year veteran of state police, and has worked in the Campbellsburg and Bowling Green posts.
