New traffic light being activated at Citation – Greendale intersection
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington flips the switch on a newly-installed traffic light at the intersection of Citation Boulevard and Greendale Road Monday.
Officials say the light is scheduled to be activated at 10 a.m. The traffic signal was installed after numerous accidents were reported following the road’s extension.
Authorities say the accidents were occuring because drivers on Greendale Road were failing to yield to drivers on Citation Boulevard. Residents grew impatient with the number of wrecks they were witnessing and contacted the state for a traffic light.
At first the state said it did not believe there was enough traffic to warrant a light and there were several signs to guide drivers throughout the intersection, but residents persisted and the state installed the light.
