New Study Shows Antibiotics Are Overprescribed In Kentucky

A new government study finds that doctors across the United States are overprescribing antibiotics, especially in Kentucky.Researchers say doctors are prescribing enough of the drugs to give to four out of every five Americans every year. Scientists say prescription rates are much higher in Kentucky, West Virginia, and Tennessee where about 1,200 prescriptions are written for every 1,000 people.

Scientists say overuse is one reason antibiotics are starting to lose their strength, making infections harder to treat
