New Secretariat monument at home in City of Paris
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Tuesday morning, the monument “Twice the Heart” was transported to Kentucky from Utah by the artist, Jocelyn Russell.
This is the fifth monument Russell created of Secretariat.
The monument depicts Secretariat running in the field at Claiborne Farms.
Our photojournalist Dylan Scheid was there this morning and spoke to the sculptor about its importance.
“Just the energy behind it is really thrilling to be a part of. And, you know, I feel like I play a small part in it, but at the same time it’s something that’s gonna be here forever and I’ll get to come back and hopefully, generations of people will enjoy the park,” she said.
The monument, which was privately funded by the community and the city of Paris, looks forward to its years of impact.
