New principal named at Tates Creek Elementary
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — Superintendent Manny Caulk announced Carrie Paul as the next principal of Tates Creek Elementary Thursday.
“I’m excited to announce the selection of our first new principal of the hiring season,” Caulk said. “As acting principal this year, she has been interviewing for the job since August and has demonstrated excellent leadership. She has been an integral part of the Tates Creek family during their journey to becoming an International Baccalaureate school and has a clear vision for continuing to drive achievement at the school.”
Paul has more than 14 years of experience in education, all in Fayette County. She taught both kindergarten and fifth grade at Deep Springs Elementary prior to joining the staff at Tates Creek Elementary nine years ago as the Administrative Dean and Professional Growth and Effectiveness Coach. She has served as acting principal of Tates Creek Elementary since the August.
“We are delighted to have Carrie join our leadership team,” said School Chief Heather Bell, who oversees Tates Creek Elementary. “In her role as PGES coach and this year serving as Interim Principal she has proved to be an outstanding leader, focused on relationships and results. Carrie’s commitment to the students, staff and families at Tates Creek and value of the IB journey are an asset to the campus community.”
Paul earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Morehead State University, a master’s degree in literacy at Georgetown College and her principal certification at Eastern Kentucky University.
She grew up on a cattle farm in Cynthiana, Kentucky and she is proud of her roots. She loves spending time with her husband Dylan, who is an FCPS teacher, and her daughters Finley and Kimmel who have the good fortune of also being part of FCPS as students.
