New Lexington police chief to be sworn in Sunday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington’s new top cop will officially take over Sunday.

Lawrence Weathers will be sworn in as Lexington police chief at 3:30 P.M.. in the lobby of the government center.

Weathers was serving as Fayette County Schools’ Law Enforcement Director.

Before that he served with the Lexington Police Department for 30 years.

In an interview earlier this month, Weathers told ABC 36 he’d start his new job by listening to his new team and the community.
