New kids on the block: Isaiah Briscoe
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Isaiah Briscoe is a bad dude on the floor.
He’s also a funny dude and a fun guy to be around in general.
Tyler Ulis told us Briscoe is one of his three “sons” on the team.
Ulis has helped Isaiah transition from high school to life at UK.
“When I get between these lines, it’s time to compete,” Briscoe made clear when asked if he switches off the goofy demeanor when he steps on the court.
We asked Briscoe if that’s the case, who are his two brothers.
“Jamal and Charles,” Briscoe said.
Jamal meaning Jamal Murray, the same guy Briscoe couldn’t stand before being teammates at UK.
“We’re both point guards. It wasn’t like ‘I hate you. Don’t talk to me.’ It was like ‘That’s it. That’s all you get is the what’s up. Now go away.'”
So what was it that brought Briscoe and Murray together as “brothers” at UK?
“It might of been Hooters. It brought us together. Sure. The chicken. Blame it on the chicken.”
It’s not just the relationships growing off the court that have Briscoe feeling good about his decision to come to Lexington.
Playing with guys like Ulis, Charles Matthews and Murray will help take the pressure off Briscoe, and put the pressure on the opponent.
