New historic marker unveiled in Lexington to honor 20 years of fairness

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- There is a new historic marker in Downtown Lexington, not far from the Government Center.

It commemorates the 20th anniversary of a fairness ordinance, passed in 1999, that has protected rights for the Lexington LGBTQ* community.

This is the third historic marker commemorating Lexington’s LGBTQ history.

Monday, Tuesday Meadows, of the Lexington Fairness Board, said the ordinance made Lexington a better place for everyone.

There’s also a Lexington fairness ordinance exhibit right now at the main branch of the library downtown.
