New developments in the pawn shop murder case
New developments in a 2013 murder case out of Danville.
Kenneth Keith is the ex-pastor that is accused of killing three people in a pawn shop back in 2013.
Keith was in court on Monday. A judge is considering whether a conversation involving Keith should be heard during the trial.
Prosecutors say Keith had a conversation by text and phone with a pastor in Michigan.
According to prosecutors the conversation came in after the three murders before Keith’s arrest. The Michigan pastor says the conversation with Keith left him suspicious, so he called police. Keith’s Attorney says a conversation between a pastor and parishioner is privileged, like a doctor and a patient and it shouldn’t be allowed as evidence in the trial. The Michigan pastor testified that he called Keith after hearing about the murders.
The judge will also consider a request from Keith’s wife. She wants some property including thirty thousand dollars seized from the pawn shop. She says it’s hers, but prosecutors say it could be evidence in the case.
The judge says he expects to have a decision on these matters on February 2nd.
