New development in House Bill 2 ultrasound case

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Governor’s Office said it filed a legal brief at the end of October asking the U.S. Supreme Court to turn down EMW Women’s Surgical Center’s appeal request in the House Bill 2 ultrasound case.

HB 2 requires an abortion provider to give women an ultrasound including the sound of the heartbeat and explain what the image depicts before an abortion can be performed.

The bill was upheld by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in April 2019, according to the Governor’s Office.
