New details in western Kentucky plane crash
CALVERT CITY, Ky. (WTVQ) – New audio released from air traffic control reveals more about what was happening in a plane that crashed in western Kentucky four months ago.
Marty Gutzler was flying his piper twin-engine plane with four family members on board from Florida to Illinois. In an exchange with air traffic control, Gutzler said the plane was having engine troubles. The place was around 10 miles from the nearest airport at Kentucky Dam State Park, near Calvert City.
The lone survivor, seven-year-old Sailor Gutzler, trekked nearly a mile through dense woods to get help.
The National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the crash.
