New details in recent Lexington murder

New details released during a court hearing about a recent Lexington murder.

Jermaine Anderson is accused of gunning down a man on Whitney Avenue on June 7th. Police say Anderson shot into a car killing Montez Graves and hurting Frederick Spillman.  We’re told Spillman had severe injuries but has been released from the hospital.

A Lexington Police Detective Robert Wilson testified during court Thursday morning.  He said a witness saw Anderson running away after the gunshots.  After a short chase, Wilson says police say Anderson toss something to the ground.  Investigators say it ended up being a handgun that matched shell casings found at the crime scene and a slug recovered from Graves.

There was a second shooting, also on June 7th, that killed Graves’ uncle.  Detective Wilson doesn’t believe Anderson or anyone else he was with had anything to do with that shooting.

No word on how, or if, Anderson knew the victims.

The judge sent the case to a grand jury.

Anderson is still behind bars without bond.

Lexington Police continue to search for several suspects in connect with other shootings around the same time.
