New Circle Road widening project to cause lane closures

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Drivers in Lexington should prepare for lane closures and potential delays as construction crews continue work on the New Circle Road widening project.

According to city officials, starting at 1 p.m. Thursday, a lane on Leestown Road at the New Circle Road bridge will be closed. Later, at 9 p.m., another lane will be closed on the New Circle Road outer loop at the bridge over Leestown Road.

By 10 p.m., both Leestown Road and New Circle Road will be fully shut down, with traffic being diverted. Officials say all lanes are expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Friday.

Drivers are advised to plan ahead and use alternate routes if possible.
