New app gives Kentucky hunters a high-tech edge this season
FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky hunters have a new digital tool just in time for deer and elk season.
The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife has launched a new mobile app called “KY Deer & Elk” to help hunters plan, track, and manage their trips. The app provides real-time maps, county-based planning tools, and quick access to hunting licenses and telecheck information — all in one place.
Officials say the app also works offline, showing public land boundaries even when you’re out of cell range. Hunters can use it to locate chronic wasting disease (CWD) testing sites, processors, and taxidermists across the state.
The free app is available now on the Apple App Store and Google Play, with more information at fw.ky.gov.
