Netti Depp statue revealed in State Capitol

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) — Local leaders unveiled a new statue inside the State Capitol Thursday.

The statue is of Nettie Depp and is the first monument to honor a Kentucky woman inside the capitol.

Depp was an educator and supported fair pay for school teachers. She was also a tireless advocate for public education.

The statue was created by artist Amanda Matthews of Lexington, who wanted to honor the contributions of Kentucky women to the Commonwealth.
